It's that time of year again, what a surprise! It seems the month has just flown by. And now Daylight Savings Time will end. In our part of the world it means snow and wintery weather is not far off. The storm that hit Colorado with up to 2 feet of snow the other day has been dumping lots of rain in our region, lots of snow in regions several hours north and west of us and it's possible we may see some snow this far south tonight or tomorrow. Behind the "Colorado low" the weather predictions call for strong damaging winds and possible lake effect snows followed then by blowing and drifting snows and snowsqualls. If there's any respite in all the predictions it is that by Halloween the weather will improve and the trick or treaters should see reasonable temperatures for their goodie gathering. It's expected to rain though so I hope they're well prepared for that! It will likely be a small Halloweening crowd and a short night as the parents won't be apt to stay out long in lousy weather and it's rare now for kids to be out on their own.
This seems like a great time to share some photographs I've been collecting over part of September and October featuring the season's change and the last hurrah that nature displays in celebration before winter makes itself apparent to us;

Another small community we traveled through, Hockley, Ontario gave us some delightful examples of the sort of beauty nature can unveil;

A single tree stands out from the rest at the edge of a field lined by a forest of mixed trees. Only 150 years ago Ontario was covered by mixed forests like the one above and this one below;

I'll add another group later today, and I'll be working on a little slide show to save you the scrolling and highlight a few of my most favourite shots captured this fall. Hopefully they'll all be up and ready to roll before the weekend's done.

Hope you enjoy the images and that this creates a smile on your face as big as the smile I found on Our Enchanted Garden's landscape just the other day;

Don't forget to turn your clock back tonight, the benefit of that is the sky will be lighter in early morning once again, at least until the days get considerably shorter! For the past couple weeks it's been dark when I headed into work so it will be a treat to see a hint of sunrise on my way in after this weekend.
