A concept; spiritual competition.
I've heard a bit about it, heard it mentioned here and there...What does it really mean? All religions of any organized fashion wish to justify their existence, and taking that without making a judgment one cannot expect them to do otherwise, realistically.
Yet there is something akin to a tribal rivalry that exists between the various and even ancient spiritual paths that abound. A tension exists that balances and offsets...Sometimes though this uneasy balance is lost, even momentarily, and then we see this competition clearly as it arises in the need to proclaim one tribe or another tribes' god as "the one and only god" etc., "the only righteous path", the "only way to salvation" and on...
When, in fact, we all have our very own unique path to follow that is beautifully and magically presented to us as we take each step and make our intent real in some way.
Where we all get caught - it's IN THE DRAMA !
Because someone just HAS TO be bigger or stronger, and because someone just HAS TO be quieter and neater and because someone HAS TO be weaker and because someone HAS TO be first and because someone HAS TO be better!!! Competition has lost any value when we reach a level of existence where we can't simply let each other BE.
Before I get the nasty replies: I'm not suggesting anarchy - there are child killers and rapists and twisted people who truly must be dealt with firmly - I don't suggest we simply let them BE, other than "BE" - IN JAIL.
People participating in spiritually competitive situations aren't realizing that's what's up - they honestly believe in their religious dogma and wish only the best for those they wish to convert...or do they...is there something sinister lurking behind the mirage of "helpfullness and salvation"?
And setting aside the obvious established doctrines of the major faiths of the world , there are "levels" of spiritual awareness everywhere I look. And even among some seemingly tolerant and benign of spiritually evolved persons I know I have heard hints of that competition. It pains these "evolved" people so to see the masses of this world yet unawake to their full potential and their empowerment. And even among these it is difficult for them to avoid placing judgment upon those they think they might or should "help" somehow...
This goes right to the edge, certainly, as wild as anyone's imagination - in terms of what people believe and trust and practice! At odds to one another are we - a ying/yang effect in motion still...Our beliefs are as varied as we are - that's what makes us all the same...the link that binds us is the very fact that we are all a unique expression of what it is to be human!
Therefore - I postulate it only makes sense to let people BE who they must be and understand YOUR perspective relative to them - that is your point of power - where you are -. From there you can choose how you wish to dance with this "other" - and that dance can be harmonious and melodic - it can be energetic, aggressive, anxious, even angry...Be aware of what you choose and work with it but don't let the experience become you. Don't "own" it, just feel it...
If you really think about it this is what we're here to do - to experience - plain and simple...It's up to us to choose what we wish to experience, to actively participate in our experiences...not to live our lives like automatons that stop learning once our diplomas are hot off the press! Is it true we create our own reality? Our perceptions colour our reality?
Life is a wonderful journey full of experiences. Our lives are dances, plays and dramas that can be memorable in a wild variety of ways - it's up to us to appreciate and enjoy the journey and hopefully encourage others to follow!
At least that's my perspective - one I'm coming to appreciate more!
Life is your dance. Live simply, live well and laugh a lot! ;-)
