Do No Harm, practice your response ability, and live as if all life matters!
There is a universal truth, that states; "do no harm";
Do no harm unto others or one's self; "Others" meaning not just the other people of earth but also the environment, nature and all her beautiful creatures, including us.
I don't think anything which I wrote yesterday favours the individual over the group. I don't believe it promotes separation. It is instead what could make unity a better thing. Being able to allow the "other" to be the best they can be, in their own right. But it's likely I can add more to these thoughts, to paint the picture of the vision I hold.
There's another little piece of the puzzle that really melds it all; We have response ability - each of us must learn to accept responsibility. In the case of lawlessness, in the case of unruly or dis-respectful children, in the case of dishonest even dastardly leaders in business, government or religion. We each have a responsibility to correct the actions of others that infringes on the rights of people, nature and life. And there is a fine line to straddle in order to achieve that without causing harm, without infringing on others' rights at the same time, ourselves... People for far too long have been in the habit of blaming society for all the wrongs, looking to government and their laws, schools and markets to correct the woes of the people.Essentially giving away our personal power to be at the helm of our own destiny. Thinking we are too small to make a difference.
THAT mass consciousness is what is the source of many of the woes the human race and nature is subjected to. Laws have shown to be fallible - because laws can't change a persons' mind and laws have loopholes that give the "crafty ones" an out to justify their actions - I'm not saying this is right - just that It's What It Is.
Look even at the concept of Democracy and you can see the loopholes in the "design" that leave far too many out in the cold, even though the principle is an excellent premise to build on, it doesn't necessarily work for the betterment of ALL the people, unfortunately it just helps out some of the people. Re the Majority, well what if the majority are wrong? Or as in the case of the distinct polarity that has shown itself in recent history (this has happened in many governments over the past several years - not just the US) where 49% the voters support X and the other half at 51% supports Y - where's the fairness in that - how does one truly justify over-running the other? And of course we must remember that a similarly large portion of the population don't even bother to vote at all - so just how effective is that in building community that supports and respects the rights of the people? That can protect the people? That can lead the people?
We know in our hearts what is right and true and fair, if we are truly honest with ourselves - we don't need a government or a priest to tell us that it is wrong to belittle a person who appears different in some way, even if they appear different by choice as opposed to by birth or unfortunate circumstances such as an accident that might paralyze or disfigure. We "feel" it, we "sense" it, that 6th sense kicks into gear and we know it is a wrong - our conscience tells us so, quite clearly. We have been taught though, to not trust the conscience or our instinct - scientists would argue "Humans don't have instincts - that's what separates them from the animals", others might suggest, "oh it's the devil - don't listen to that inner voice" - somehow we are supposed to shut that sense down and instead listen to the man at the pulpit or the professor at the front of the class or the diplomat, or the marketing mogul - they know what we need! They know what's good and fair and correct. Not true! They think they do - but they too are players in the same game of hide and seek for they too stopped listening to the inner conscience long before!
Our current state of affairs in this crazy mixed up world are teaching us to stop, take a deep breath and check one's own conscience and we are beginning to see the wrongs for what they are. I doubt I need to list the many news stories that demonstrate this, the scandals in business, government, religion and our school systems, it is very plain for us all to see.
This is "The Awakening", I believe. Some might see it as Armageddeon...There's nothing spooky or devilish about it, but there is pain and it does raise the fear in people both in those who feel victimized and those who realize they have been wrong all along. If it is true that we are all created in the image of God, and the prophet Jesus Christ - if the writings of old can truly be trusted (and weren't purposely translated to mislead the masses) - eluded to us that we are all children of God - then we each contain a spark of god within us, we each have the same creational ability - as Christ did, and the conscience I speak of, I believe, is that "god spark" now prodding us to change our ways, now awakening in our hearts and trying to guide us out of the dark and into the light. I believe, frankly, that the coming of Christ isn't the coming of a person so much as it is the awakening of our own, individual, "Christed" consciouness.
And so, while the world can seem crazy in outward appearances - that's why I can say it is a beautiful thing. This human evolution, even if it is so very ugly at the same time. Because we are wrestling with all these issues it becomes evident we are attempting to correct the wrongs. It is no easy task but it is so worth it... It is what gives human kind the chance to create heaven on earth, to create a world where all life is honoured, where all of creation is celebrated and where people can rule themselves, responsibly, fairly and wisely.
When we are ready for the task at hand the world will right itself, and unfortunately there are some of us who will witness this and feel the pain of our fellow humans and we could be overwhelmed at times with how that feels. (Imagine Christ's heartache felt when he understood and sensed the pain of those suffering in his time? In particular when he saw the people couldn't believe they could walk on water or manifest food from nothing or cure the sick or love thy enemy? When instead they thought they had to worship him, rather than emulate him - which is more likely what he was attempting to teach. Even though he suggested "these things and far more you too can do" - sorry but I'm paraphrasing there!)
And there is the Love, the real courageous love, for God - for the god in each of us and humanity and the earth and the universe in whch we live! It is out of Love that we, those of us who have become aware of what is upon us, choose to be here now and help if and when we can. Be it through words or through actions, through artistic expression in music and other works or through sending calming energy into the mass consciousness around the earth to attempt to quell the panic. And each person who is here to help has their own mission in that - some will do so from a pulpit, from the head of a classroom, from the helm of a large corporation... And who are these people? You will know them by their works. You will know them for they walk their talk... Yet they will do so without disrespect for any other, for each is in their own right and believe what is right for them.
A rather complicated world we've gotten ourselves into Ollie? (instead of the usual "fine mess"!)
Of course what I've written too, will leave more questions than answers - it is the very nature of the human lives we all lead. We try to comprehend and our questioning is only natural. What isn't all that natural is that we continually look outside ourselves for the answers when the answers are within. We will, when we can discard our misconceptions and trappings of such things as judgement of others and judgements of self, move beyond the mess and into a world where all life matters. Where we can practice Living as if the "god spark" in all things matters. Where "do no harm" becomes as effortless as breathing! Where we can all play together in the sandbox of life, free to feel our joy and exhuberance for life, to express it in a myriad of ways and to celebrate together the miraculous beauty of life, the magic of nature, the wonder that is the world in which we live!
