Come take a walk in my enchanted garden...A new focus!
Join Cheryl and her partner John for adventures in their enchanted garden..."We hope you'll enjoy reading about our garden and watching it grow as much as we do!" Today is the first day of the rest of the life of this new focus for a blog... I find the need to make blogging worthwhile to bother to continue to do it...There are plenty of people sharing their views and opinions on so many levels of human experience that I find there's often more than I care to become involved in...and a lot just seems repetitive... So I've thought deeply about what would be fun and worthwhile spending time at...I have wracked my mind thinking what would be best published here and I've experimented with other ideas but haven't really found something I truly wanted to share... Yet here I am... gladly led through synchronicities galore - to the very thing John and I proudly share with friends and family and what I'll share right here; our garden. We hope you'll enjoy the ramblings and find the visit soothing and relaxing. Perhaps we will be able to add a virtual and interactive experience with time... Today the garden is damp with rain and the temperature is cool 20C (69F). Many flowers are blooming; daisies are still standing proud - having been dead-headed twice, morning glories in shades of purples, pinks and blues, sunny yellow and golden marigolds line the path. Just at the edge of the lane there, some portulacca sits, a little heavy with water droplets - delicate salmon and soft yellow flowers mashed by the weight - they'll spring right back once things dry a bit and new blooms will replace these! The birds were singing earlier but now have gone quiet - they'll have more to say a bit later as the day warms and dries the grasses and brings out the insects to gather for their young! Yesterday a good basketful of green beans, cucumbers and fresh cut herbs were harvested. Many of our little crops are finished for the year (strawberries, raspberries, peas, spinach, spring onions, asparagus) Those beds will soon be cleared and prepared for an exciting new project planned for this fall where the garden will be moved and re-arranged and brought into a more useful format for all involved. We're even going to move our greenhouse and work up a support structure for my grapevines. I'll be sharing the development here as we go...and with mindsay's great interface I should be able to provide you with samples of garden inspired artwork, and soon snapshots from the garden... We'll attempt over the course of the project to update with new photos and details as well as follow-up to show the results, whether or not we're happy with them and if we'll make more changes. The fun with this garden is the fact that it is a dynamic, ever changing and evolving entity...we enjoy sharing our adventures with our family, our friends and our neighbours - whether it be through tasty by-products like jams, pickles and preserves or through the many, many stories and inspirations we've been blessed with! I even held my daughter's engagement party here in the garden; a country-western theme that worked well! I look forward to experimenting with this blog! We hope to share our experiences and challenges as we uncover a little piece of heaven right in our back yard! I hope you enjoy joining us along the path when-ever it suits your fancy! Don't feel obliged to stay long if you haven't the time, but do visit often when a cool walk in the garden is something you might enjoy! Life is our dance! Live simply, live well and laugh a lot!
