All right!
Friday...
the work week is done
and time to have a little fun!
And we all need it too - we're thinking too hard - all of us - getting ourselves "worked up". We're forgetting to "enjoy the ride!" Aren't we lucky April Fool's Day is here to help lighten us up?
(at least to give us an excuse to be silly - to do something silly - to have a little fun!)
I asked earlier today - haven't heard back or seen other blogs yet on that but I'm hoping some people got inspired by the day - I'm truly interested in hearing what pranks people played on their friends or loved ones and why.
At work I set my screensaver to Marquee and put up the script;
"Happy April Fool's Day! What kind or thoughtful prank did you play on your friends or loved ones?"
Then I challenged a few co-workers, asking what would they do? ...really I was just hoping to plant a seed...a seed to suggest playfulness as a positive thing.
A few people shared with me some of the April Fool's pranks they had heard about or experienced in the past - most were stories of people being "tricked" and often in ways that weren't very "nice". And that's my point I guess, because that's mainly what I remember too - tricks, sometimes downright mean ones were often played on people in the name of April Fool's Day.
So to turn things around I thought I'd try something different...I happened to have some little heart shaped foil confetti bits in a small package in my desk...leftover from some past Valentine's day prank I played once...(oh my! It's hard to hold back sometimes...snicker!) I snuck some into the pages of one co-worker's paperback he'd been reading at lunch, I also put a tiny sticky note inside the front cover and stuck one confetti bit right to it and wrote" April Fool's!" (I won't know till Monday if he found it - but he will!)
Then I strategicaly placed some more confetti inside a small bag with a muffin & napkin in it. This I gave to my partner when he picked me up after work and when I offered it to him and he attempted to pull the muffin out the confetti went sailing through his car...but how can someone deny that cute little multi-coloured foil heart confetti pieces are anything but playful?
Well my partner is truly a prince and he smiled and enjoyed the moment - he takes a playful perspective. Some people take life so seriously they might only think of the "chore" of vacuuming up all those darn pesky bits...others just can't laugh anyway, might crack something other than a smile - poor things!
I truly hope the prank played on you today brought a smile to your face - wouldn't it be fun to help give the world some belly laughs?
Live, love, laugh & be happy! ;-) Happy April Fool's to you!
