How my day progressed surprised me and still leaves me thinking...ah but the day is not yet over.While surfing around I decided to check out earthquake information - have you noticed? Has anyone?
There hasn't been one in a while...that got me wondering about Mount St. Helens so I checked out the monument webcam and things look quiet there too
though there's been some 3 mag tremors...
Following a link I came across some beautiful image files of the growing lava dome at the top of the crater. I can't past them here so go check it out at; http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/ I found a few of the images quite intriquing;
MSH05_new_dome_from_NW_03_11_05.jpg, in particular
(high quality shots at the above website - highly recommended.)
To get there from the main page;
under the listings for Volcanoes select Images:
and then select Mount St Helens 2004, 2005 Archives
go to March 2005 by selecting and then scroll down to the bottom of the March 2005 page;
all sorts of pics are available. I tried to paste a thumbnail here to give an "quick look" folks but I couldn't pull it off..
MSH05 is a shot of the new lava dome forming in the crater on Mount St Helen's taken March 11th.
One impression I got of the image is that it suggests a vagina, the lava dome protruding and swollen as if Mother Earth, or Earth Mother, is preparing for a birth. (Much like the main crater itself does - though I admit you may need some imagination to see it!)
Symbolically perhaps this is nature's way in saying it is time for new life, as we have lost so many in these days past and in keeping with the natural rythyms of our world, just as things are supposed to be somehow, perhaps it is time for renewal in a significant way.
Fun! I "just happened by" inspired by the fact I hadn't heard if there were any new earthquake reports recently... first very casually and then I did a bit more digging for images or other info and "ta-da!" I encountered these cool images that set me on yet another adventure-path of ideas and inspiration!
Never ending and infinitely challenging. Adventure is a life imbued with a passion for questioning, observation and exploration. Who cares who agrees or who's right or wrong - it makes no difference in the big scheme of things. But then that's just my perspective...
