Hello, hello!
Yes it's St. Paddy's Day, not one I celebrate, but I know plenty of people who enjoy the excuse for a party! I read a blog last night - I forget who's entry it was - they discussed St Patrick's Day from a perspective I never realized - talking about the history behind the "holiday" and apparently, it is, an actual holiday in Ireland. That got me curious and then I checked out an articale written by Yahoo's "The Answer Man" and found out the blogger had been quite correct in the historical details. The fellow wasn't Irish at all - he WAS an englishman...surprise!
I just can't get why people do what they do in the "name" of their religion and the bloggers' story truly brought that to mind for me! Oh well - as always I must remind myself we all have our "reasons" our "ways" , and while I'm willing to make an effort to "appreciate" I don't need to accept these ideas - they can go their way and still leave me unscathed...and that is VERY ok with me!
Personally I prefer to spend my time in celebration of the Vernal equinox at this time of the year! It means we'll reach that point where light and dark, day and night, are in balance. Pretty well - 12 hours on, 12 hours off...though not exact...and the warmer weather can't be far off...frost maybe...perhaps a "last gasp" snow storm, but we will have passed the "critical" point by the 20th.
All this while our friends in the Southern hemisphere begin to experience their autumn. But hey, that's a nice time of year too...
Well, I have to admit so is winter (a nice time of year! I'll admit I like to ski and toss the odd snowball), arrrrgh! It just lasts so-o-o-o long sometimes!
If you're interested in finding the bloggers story, try the tags to look it up, (history, holidays or religion might pull it up) sorry, wish I'd made a note of the name! I might touch down a wee bit later but for now it is time to fly away!
I hope you've had a great day - I hope you have a fabulous evening - and I hope you don't turn green! Happy days!
Live simply, live well, and laugh, A LOT !!!!!!!!!
And Hi Casey, cool, I look forward to more bloggin'!
